IIN-OEA against physical punishment
In the framework of the IX International Meeting of Legislators, Entrepreneurs and Special Guests, and the 17th International Meeting of Early Childhood and Preschool, the Inter-American Children’s Institute (IIN) of the OAS will present two presentations that promote the strengthening and promotion of legislation prohibiting corporal punishment in childhood.
IX International Meeting of Legislators, Employers and Special Guests (11- 12 October 2017)
This meeting, organized by the Hemispheric Network of Parliamentarians and Ex-Parliamentarians for Early Childhood, a strategic partner of the IIN-OAS, will be held in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. The Director General of the IIN, Victor Giorgi, will be a member of the Panel: Progress and challenges of actions against violence against children, which will discuss “Key components for legislation that prohibits corporal punishment in childhood.”
17th. International Encounter of Initial and Preschool Education (12-14 October)
Under the auspices of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Inter-American Children’s Institute (IIN / OAS), the Government of the State of Nuevo Leon, the State Education Secretariat, the System for Integral Development (DIF), the Hemispheric Network of Parliamentarians and Ex-Parliamentarians for Early Childhood, and the Children’s Development Centers of the Popular Front ¨Tierra y Libertad¨ summon the 17th. International Encounter of Early Childhood and Early Childhood Education: “Critical Periods of Child Development, Neuromotricity and Comprehensive Care Strategies with Cultural Relevance and Quality”, a performance at the Theater of the City of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, from 12 to 14 October 2017.
This meeting aims to “offer educators, social agents, professionals of different specialties, educational authorities and designers of social policy, a space of analysis and reflection on the situation, advances and challenges of policies, programs and experiences that occur in the early childhood development: their critical periods, neuromotricity and comprehensive care strategies with quality and cultural relevance. “
The IIN as a specialized agency for children of the OAS will intervene on: Advances and challenges: Model Law on the prohibition of corporal punishment in the panel: The protection of early childhood against violence and in the context of the Goals for the Sustainable Development 2015-2030.
